Recently, there have been reports that the series graphics card GeForce RTX 40 from NVIDIA could be released in mid-July. This would suggest that we are only 2-3 months away from the introduction of the new line of graphics cards based on the architecture Ada Lovelace. Poised to be powerful and consume a lot of energy, the line of the GeForce RTX 40 series will require a robust cooling system and it seems that NVIDIA is giving a great upgrade to its Founders Edition design existing to meet the 450W TDP specification.
Assuming those photos are real, NVIDIA would stick with its design, with two fans pointing in two different directions. The part that is most interesting is the base, which is bigger and will not only cool the GPU but also cool the memories. NVIDIA currently uses heat pads to dissipate heat from memory with the heatsink on its RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti Founders Edition graphics cards.
This new heatsink design will allow NVIDIA to cool at least twelve GDDR6X memory chips. It will likely use the same PCB configuration as the RTX 3090 Ti with 4 GDDR6 chips on the left/right side, three on top and 1 on the bottom. Since NVIDIA is expected to use higher specification GDDR6X chips in its next generation cards, the additional cooling system will be really essential for the AD102 GPU. There’s also a large aluminum heatsink for the VRMs and thermal pads for various components. The heat sinks on the sides also appear to have been upgraded with more fins.
