Fortum announced the final stage of negotiations on the nationalization of Uniper
MOSCOW, 20 Sep — PRIME. Negotiations on the nationalization of gas importer Uniper by the German government are at the final stage, Finnish Fortum said.
Earlier Tuesday, media reported that the German government had reached a preliminary agreement with Uniper and its main shareholder, Finnish Fortum, to nationalize the country’s largest gas importer.
“As Fortum announced on September 14, 2022, negotiations on an alternative solution to the July stabilization package for Uniper are ongoing… Fortum confirms that negotiations are in the final stages and that elements of the agreement under discussion include the sale of Fortum’s shares in Uniper to the German state, the return of funding provided by Fortum to the company Uniper, as well as the previously planned capital injection by the German state into Uniper,” the company said in a press release.
The press service of Fortum added that the final agreement has not yet been reached. The company “will inform the market once the agreement is finalized and signed,” they said.
