France injects blockchain for its bicycle aid plan

To promote mobility in bike during the deconfinement, the government will provide the French with 20 million euros. On Coupdepoucevelo.fr, individuals can repair a bike and get help for 50 euros. The blockchain will dematerialize and secure the project.

The deconfinement has at least one virtue: the considerable reduction in air pollution. May 11 could therefore sign the end of the lull. It is precisely to reduce the return of cars to metropolitan areas that the government is launching an aid plan.

With a budget of 20 million euros, its objective is thus to encourage the French to use bicycles more often. Each taxpayer will be able to claim aid of 50 euros for the repair of a used bicycle. Funding for training is also planned.

A shared register for authorized repairers

"We want this period to take a step forward in cycling culture, and that the bicycle is the little queen of deconfinement in a way" ambitions the Minister of Transport, Elisabeth Borne, quoted by the Parisian.

To connect repairers and bicycle owners, the Federation of bicycle users (FUB) launched a dedicated site on May 4: Coupdepoucevelo.fr. Professionals, repair associations and individuals are therefore invited to register to automatically benefit from the aid.

For the FUB, however, it is a question of ensuring the proper management of public funds and therefore of preventing fraud. On this strand, this is the blockchain technology of the Vendée startup O ° code that has been deployed.

Blockchain for traceability and evidence management

A web platform thus registers professionals approved by the Federation. It allows the dematerialized management of transactions linked to public aid allocated by the Ministry of Transport.

Thus, each repair operation is recorded and time stamped on a private blockchain. The plan provides for a single package of 50 euros per person. Repairers declare transactions on the same basis thanks to a shared electronic register designed by O ° code.

The “Product Memories” solution developed by the startup is based on a blockchain for traceability and evidence management.

Each interaction or intervention by an identified actor in the chain is certified and recorded for life (time stamping, geolocation and photographs), ”specifies the company.

O ° code recently signed contracts for its technology in the private sector. Thus, 3,000 tablets of the SNCF will use its object marking solution to guarantee the traceability carrier terminals.
