PARIS, Sep 4 – PRIME. EU energy sanctions against the Russian Federation turned against the Europeans and enriched Russia, said the candidate for the chairmanship of the far-right French National Rally party, MEP Jordan Bardella.
“Today we see that the energy sanctions imposed on Russia are much more painful for the French people than for Russia, which is now drowning in money. Let’s be frank: these sanctions helped Russia get rich … These sanctions turned against us,” Bardella said. in an interview with BFMTV on Sunday.
He added that if Russia cuts off gas supplies to Europe, then France and Germany “will find themselves in a very difficult situation.”
In June, the European Union adopted the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, including a phased oil embargo.
After the start of a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine, the West stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia, which led to an increase in electricity, fuel and food prices in Europe and the United States. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
