Full cryptographic performance is achieved with the Geforce RTX 3060

Many column meters have been written about Nvidia and its investment in specific calculation cards for breaking cryptocurrency. The upcoming cards in the CMP series were announced in connection with the announcement of the Geforce RTX 3060 – and one of the promises from the company was that the graphics cards of the Geforce model would be reserved for gaming. This led to an artificial restriction regarding hashrates for RTX 3060 through limitations in BIOS, hardware and drivers.

Videocardz now reports that Nvidia’s block has already been removed from play without physical modifications to graphics cards, something Nvidia believed was part of the protection. The result is that the Geforce RTX 3060 performs calculations at just over 48 MH / s, according to the Japanese magazine PC Watch. Where the driver normally restricts cryptocurrency performance shortly after detecting an Ethereum load, screenshots of a session that has lasted more than eight minutes are displayed.

The only thing that is said to be required is an official beta driver from Nvidia themselves, version 470.05, and a VBIOS signed MSI. This in turn may mean that Nvidia’s statement that the crypto lock on the RTX 3060 is a three-stage rocket is a lie – and that cryptocurrency breakers can figuratively rush to the shops after the graphics cards.

The availability of the Geforce RTX 3060, on the other hand, fell by already seen for those who have followed the winter graphics market. The number of units available at launch was minimal, and only a few models were sold at the recommended price. The only Nordic player that promises access to RTX 3060 is currently Danish Computer Sales – at the easy price of SEK 11,476.

Incidentally, the number of booked RTX 3060s also appears to exceed the allocation in the foreseeable future – and the situation is not expected to be eased now that crypto breakers are adjusting to the queue. For example, Proshop has over 500 bookings, a number that can be set against only 155 confirmed cards on the way in.
