G7 finance ministers agreed to impose a price limit on Russian oil

“We continue to urge oil-producing countries to increase production in order to reduce volatility in energy markets,” reads a statement published on the website of the German Finance Ministry following a meeting on Friday.

The text also notes that the G-7 welcomes OPEC’s recent decision to ramp up oil production amid tight supply.

Earlier on Friday, the G7 member countries unanimously agreed to introduce a “ceiling” on prices for Russian oil.
