Gas tariffs to be indexed by seven percent in 2024

MOSCOW, 28 Sep — PRIME. Tariffs for gas for all categories of consumers, as well as for its transportation in 2024, will be indexed by 7% from July 1, according to the forecast for the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation for 2023-2025.

Last Friday, the Ministry of Economic Development announced that the Russian government decided to postpone the indexation of housing and communal services tariffs for the population from July 1, 2023 to December 1, 2022, its maximum level will not exceed 9%. The next indexation will take place only on July 1, 2024. In particular, it was reported that gas tariffs for industry and the population of the Russian Federation from December 1, 2022 will increase by 8.5%.

“In order not to increase cross-subsidization, indexation of wholesale gas prices for all categories of consumers, as well as tariffs for gas transportation through gas distribution networks in 2023-2025, will be carried out at the level of forecast inflation increased by 3 percentage points annually. Indexation will be: 8 .5% from December 1, 2022, 7% from July 1, 2024 and 7% from July 1, 2025.

At the same time, the level of indexation of tariffs for gas transportation through gas distribution networks in relation to individual regions and gas distribution organizations will be determined taking into account the need to implement economically sound gasification programs and the special surcharge established by the regions, the document states.
