MOSCOW, 19 Sep — PRIME. The Kovykta field will be put into operation in the second half of December, and from October 25, gas from the field will be supplied to the Kovykta-Chayanda pipeline for commissioning. This was stated in the press service of “Gazprom”.
The Kovykta field is unique, the largest in Eastern Siberia with projected recoverable gas reserves of 1.8 trillion cubic meters and gas condensate of 65.7 million tons.
“The deposit will be put into operation in the second half of December this year,” the statement said.
Gazprom added that on October 25, gas from the Kovykta field will be supplied to the Kovykta-Chayanda gas pipeline for commissioning under load.
The section from the Kovykta to the Chayandinskoye field is the second section of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, through which gas is supplied to China.
It is emphasized that the launch of Kovykta will significantly expand the resource base in the east of the country for gas supplies to Russian consumers and for export.
