Gboard not working? 4 solutions
If Gboard freezes and no longer works while you’re trying to type, there could be several underlying problems. To prevent Gboard from crashing unexpectedly, make sure the keyboard app is set as the default keyboard, is up-to-date, and has its cache clean.
Gboard is one of the best keyboard apps for Android out there, but like any app, it occasionally crashes due to an error. For example, Gboard may no longer work while you are using it, making it impossible for you to continue typing.
This error could be due to a number of causes, but luckily there are a few things you can try to get Gboard back to working on your Android phone. Read on to troubleshoot the Gboard keyboard app.
The first thing I recommend to always do when you are faced with a problem with a device is to restart, in this case restart your Android phone and see if by doing so you have solved the problems, if Gboard still does not work continue reading the solutions below.
Gboard can get stuck on the screen. In this case, forcing the app to stop (not quit) could solve the problem. This will essentially eliminate all operational and temporary keyboard configurations and reset itself when we reopen the application.
In Android, keyboards are managed in Language and Input. Disabling Gboard and re-enabling it may fix the problem if there are issues with the preferences.
If Gboard still doesn’t work, open the Virtual Keyboard setting again. Now disable all keyboards, then re-enable Gboard and check if it works properly.
Gboard must be the default keyboard to function correctly. Setting Gboard as the default keyboard might solve the problems.
