GeForce Experience in-game overlay not working

The GeForce Experience overlay is a screen that appears on your screen while you are in-game and provides you with various services such as screen recording, live streaming, screenshot, direct sharing, etc. Some users have recently pointed out some occasions where they are unable to use the GeForce Experience in-game overlay in their games. If you are one of these users and facing the same issues, don’t worry. There are some easy and constant solutions that can help you solve the problem.

Solution 1: Download and install Visual Studio

NVIDIA Shadow play or in-game overlay requires some Visual Studio files to be installed on the system.

Step 1 – Learn about the CPU architecture

You can check which CPU architecture your system is using.

1. At first, press the button Tecla de Windows+I keys together. This will open the Settings screen.

2. On the Settings page, tap on “System” in the left pane.

3. Now on the right panel, scroll down and tap on “On“.

5. Once you see the message ‘Do you want to run this file?’ prompt, tap on “Run“.

6. You have to accept the terms and conditions. Alone control the “I accept the terms and conditions of the license“.

7. To do that, tap «install on pc” to start the installation process.

8. The installation process will be completed in half a minute.

9. Once done, tap «Restart” to reboot the system.

Once the computer boots up, launch the game and test if it works or not.

Solution 2 – Enable Overlay

Please check whether you have actually enabled the overlay function or not.

1. Type “GeForce Experience” in the search box.

2. Then touch “GeForce Experience“.

3. When NVIDIA GeForce Experience opens, tap the gear-shaped icon.

4. Then click the button “GENERAL” area.

5. Scroll down the panel on the right and set the «IN-GAME OVERLAY” for “On“.

After that, close the GeForce Experience app and launch the game and try to use the in-game overlay feature. Check if this works.

Solution 3 – Enable Experimental Features

Enabling the experimental features should fix the problem.

1. Launch the GeForce Experience app.

2. There, just touch the gear-shaped icon to access settings.

3. After that, go to “GENERAL” section.

4. Then in the panel on the right, go to «ON” section.

5. There, check mark the “Enable experimental features. GeForce Experience update may be required» option.

The GeForce Experience app can check, download any necessary updates, and install it.

Once done, check if this works.

Solution 4 – Turn off NVFBC capture on Steam

NVFBC capturing on the NVIDIA GPU from the Steam client may interfere with the in-game Overlay feature itself.

1. Start the Steam client.

2. In the Steam client, tap the “Vaporoption” on the menu bar.

3. Later, touch “Settings” to access it.

4. In the Steam Settings panel, go to «remote playback” section.

5. Now on the right side tap on «ADVANCED HOST OPTIONS“.

6. In the Advanced Host Options panel, Mark off the “Use NVBFC capture in NVIDIA GPoption U”.

7. Finally, touch “OK“.

Now close the GeForce Experience app and try playing a game and using the feature.

Solution 5 – Install Media Feature Pack

Some users have resolved this issue simply by installing the latest media feature pack on their computers.

1. Visit Media Feature Pack for Windows N.

2. Then touch the button “Descargaricon”.

3. After that, control the particular package according to the CPU specifications.

4. Then touch “Descargar” to download the latest package on your system.

5. Once you have downloaded it, double touch the downloaded package.

Now just follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.

Solution 6 – Update the graphics card

Sometimes just a graphics card update can solve the problem.

1. Inicie GeForce Experience.

2. After that, click “DRIVERS” section.

3. Let it search for the latest driver package for your system.
