It’s not just AMD that is about to launch new graphics cards. Arch-rival Nvidia plans to steal at least part of the limelight by introducing a new flagship in the Geforce GTX 900 series, this time featuring basically the same graphics processor as the worst Geforce GTX Titan X.
The graphics card in the picture is nothing less than the Geforce GTX 980 Ti. As expected, the GM200 circuit is used together with 6 GB of GDDR5 memory on a 384-bit memory bus, where the amount of memory is halved compared to Titan X. At the same time, the number of computing units decreases from 3,072 to 2,816 CUDA cores.
The graphics card itself looks to use the same reference cooler as previous flagships in the Geforce GTX 900 series. Unlike Titan X, however, partner manufacturers have free hands to develop their own models with tailor-made solutions. A couple of these can be found on the market as early as June.
The Geforce GTX 980 Ti will be launched at the Computex Taipei trade fair, which starts on 1 June.
