Nvidia promises better performance in The Witcher 3 with new drivers for Geforce Kepler

The newly launched The Witcher 3 may well be by far the most demanding game to date. In SweClocker’s performance test, not even a Geforce GTX 980 can handle 60 fps at the setting High and 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It will be even more sweaty for older models, where the graphics cards with the architecture Kepler seem to be hit particularly hard by the heavy tessellation.

That, for example, the Geforce GTX 780 Ti does not hang with the Radeon R9 290X at all, but rather ends up alongside the Radeon R9 290, does not go unnoticed by the users. Nvidia’s support forums are filled with complaints, with some even going so far as to claim that the whole thing is a conspiracy to force gamers to upgrade.

Now Nvidia’s forum representatives are trying to pour oil on the waves by announcing that the graphics card maker has discovered “a couple of problems” in The Witcher 3 along with graphics cards based on the Kepler architecture, ie all gaming models in the Geforce GTX 600 and 700 series.

Nvidia’s developers are working to fix the shortcomings in new drivers, but it is not clear when any of these may be ready for download. The latest driver Geforce Drivers 352.86 WHQL was released in connection with the launch of The Witcher 3 and is said to be particularly optimized for the new game, which Nvidia calls “Game Ready”.
