Geforce Kepler is delayed until 2012

Graphics card makers AMD and Nvidia are in full swing to take the step to 28 nanometers. As before, the contract manufacturer TSMC is responsible for the silicon, which means that the arch-rivals are completely dependent on the same subcontractor to get the new circuits out on time.

German Computerbase reports on a new roadmap that is said to originate from the International Supercomputing Conference. It states that the Fermi successor “Kepler” will be postponed from 2011 to 2012 and that “Maxwell” will be delayed until 2014.

However, Nvidia does not want to be aware of the new information but informs SweClockers that “there are no changes in the roadmap”. It is also unclear whether the scheme applies to consumer graphics cards (Geforce) or only affects Nvidia’s circuits for professional users (Quadro, Tesla).
