While we were all considering it canceled, according to Videocardz, Nvidia revived plans to launch a GeForce RTX 3050 for the desktop in the second quarter of 2022, providing new options for the mid-range.
If the rumor is true, the RTX 3050 will be based on the GA106-150 GPU and will feature 3072 Cuda Cores. In addition Videocardz indicates that its source assured that it will have 8GB of VRAM (And therefore possibly a 128-bit bus), having a good amount of VRAM to play in 1080p even with Ray-Tracing.
In terms of performance, this new card would be above the GTX 1660 Ti, although below the 2060. Considering that with DLSS the 2060 performs well in various games at 1080p with Ray-Tracing enabled, this RTX 3050 It could be a good choice for those who play 1080p @ 60Hz as it will run all kinds of games without problem.
Regarding the possibility of a Ti version, it is not yet clear if we will see it for desktop, since the specifications of this RTX 3050 are what we were going to see in the Ti model. It looks like Nvidia will finally release the RTX 3050 Ti as the 3050, and there won’t be a Ti model.
