GeForce RTX 3060 mobile turned into desktop video card to bypass mining limiter

In China an unidentified OEM is creating and marketing GeForce RTX 3060 rather unusual, based on the GPU of the GeForce RTX 3060 mobile (Laptop) and accompanied by 6 GB of GDDR6 memory. The purpose? Create a video card without the hash rate limiter developed by NVIDIA to mine cryptocurrencies with greater efficiency.

Brought to our attention by the site CNBETA, this “Frankenstein” video card takes advantage of the fact that RTX 3060 notebooks have never undergone NVIDIA’s Lite Hash Rate (LHR) treatment. While NVIDIA has been a victim of the data theft leads to the spread of a solution to bypass the limiter, more or less ingenious solutions continue to emerge to get around the block.

This particular solution affects i 50 MH / s, which is roughly 40% higher than a desktop GeForce RTX 3060 with LHR limiter running.

One wonders if the Chinese OEM in question is managing to make and sell such a card and how long this business will go on. Questions that are unlikely to be answered, but now that the existence of this solution has become public knowledge, NVIDIA cannot fail to take action to limit its sale or stop production altogether.
