Anyone who tried to buy a graphics card in AMD’s and Nvidia’s new product series in the autumn of 2020 has had to be quick. The launches of the Geforce RTX 3000 and Radeon RX 6000 series sold out within minutes or hours, and those who were not out early will in many cases have to wait for delivery one or more months into next year.

With that in mind, rumors of an impending launch of upgraded models with the Ti extension have been somewhat surprising. One of the flagship models is the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti, which reportedly doubles the amount of graphics memory from 10 to 20 GB of GDDR6X. Previous reports have claimed that the performance model will be launched as early as January 2021, but information from the well-reputed Igor’s Lab states that the launch has been postponed by one month.
According to Igor’s Labs, the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti will be launched instead after the Chinese New Year, which runs from 11 to 17 February. The report further states that the delay is justified by the fact that AMD’s news in the Radeon RX 6000 series did not offer remarkable advantages in UHD 4K resolution, despite the fact that the graphics cards’ 16 GB GDDR6 memory on paper surpasses the Geforce RTX 3080.

As the current RTX 3080 model stands up well to AMD’s flagship, sources at Igor’s Lab say that Nvidia will instead launch the mid-range model Geforce RTX 3060 in January. Here, configurations are stated to include a memory amount of 6 and 12 GB GDDR6, which then counters AMD’s infamous Radeon RX 6700 XT with 12 GB graphics memory.
According to previous reports, Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3060 lands at a price level of around 349 USD or approximately SEK 3,700 including VAT. The big sibling Geforce RTX 3080 Ti is said to match the competitor Radeon RX 6900 XT at 999 USD, or approximately SEK 10,500 including VAT.
