Geforce RTX 3080 Ti leaves MSI’s factories

In the autumn, Nvidia lifted the veil for the Geforce RTX 3080, a card with 10 GB of GDDR6 memory and a competitive price on paper. The next step in the RTX 3000 family is the top card RTX 3090, which turns up the amount of memory to 24 GB, while a certain increase in performance but a significantly larger price tag separates the cards. For months, the rumor mill has contained information about an intermediate RTX 3080 Ti model, which addresses the price and performance duel against AMD’s Radeon RX 6900 XT.

There have been many bids for specifications and launch windows, but the latest is that the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti will be released in mid-May – four months after the canceled CES 2021 launch. That the launch is close in time is now confirmed by a shrewd Facebook user from Hong Kong, who in pictorial form shows what the third-party manufacturer MSI is in the process of sending to the USA: Pallets with Geforce RTX 3080 Ti belonging to the Ventus 3X OC series.

It is thus one of the company’s more lavish models equipped with three fans, a color scheme in black and gray edged with factory overclocking. Like the Geforce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 variants in the same series, this is probably another cooler that takes up 2.5 card slots, as well as power supply distributed over dual 8-pin PCI Express connections.

Under the shell of brown cardboard awaits graphics cards that Nvidia has not yet launched.

The model name printed on the consignment note also confirms previous information that the amount of memory stays at 12 GB GDDR6X, in line with rumors of a memory bus of 384 bits – two upgrades compared to the 10 GB and 320 bits seen in the card’s Ti-loose siblings. However, it is significantly lower than the 20 GB that persistently circulated with previous rumors.

Judging from the picture, the boxes contain five cards, but the total volumes can only be speculated about. Judging by the recent lack of hardware, this time too it will not be about a quantity that can meet demand – a situation that Nvidia believes will last for the rest of the year. However, the fact that the graphics cards are already leaving the factories can be seen as a clear sign that another Geforce RTX 3000 model will soon see the light of day.
