Gigabyte announces special version of Geforce GTX 1080 developed for VR

During this year’s Computex trade show, Gigabyte showed several models of Geforce GTX 1080 equipped with their own cooling solutions. One of the cards shown was the Geforce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming, and now Gigabyte has gone out with further details about the graphics card. One of the big news is that the card comes in two versions, one of which focuses on playing in virtual reality.

Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming comes equipped with Gigabyte’s own Windforce cooler, which includes three semi-passive 100-millimeter fans that are wrapped around each other to reduce the size. Your own cooler includes a circuit board with a 14-phase power supply.

In addition to the regular Xtreme Edition, there are graphics cards in the Premium Pack, which come with adaptations for gaming in virtual reality. What sets the card apart is that it comes with a 5.25-inch front panel with dual USB 3.0 and two HDMIs, which should make it easier to connect VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

The Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming will be launched later in June. When VR-custom Premium Pack will be released is not yet known.
