Google Releases New Chrome Browser Without Adobe Flash Player And FTP Support

The release of the new version of the proprietary Chrome browser under number 88 from Google took place on January 19, 2021.

The main event of this release was the corporation’s refusal to use the Adobe Flash Player, which had previously been disabled by default in the browser for several years. The same fate befell the once popular FTP file transfer client.

The developers themselves explained their decision by the fact that the above technologies have lost their relevance and are not safe. It is known that currently only 2.2% of Internet sites on the web use Flash-code. Other global IT giants Apple, Microsoft and Mozilla followed suit in the footsteps of Google. Also, since the beginning of 2021, Flash is not officially supported by Adobe itself.

Other interesting innovations in the latest version of Google Chrome 88 include an improved dark theme. The developers have finally fixed a bug with the scrollbar in Windows 10, which now fully matches the style of the design.

In addition, the experts decided to experiment with other features in the browser. In this regard, the search by tabs has been slightly changed, pop-up requests for permissions from websites have become less intrusive, and the work with a large number of open tabs and with forms for entering usernames and passwords has been significantly improved.

The stable version of the updated browser is available for download on all platforms: Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
