Graphics card sales are expected to fall by 40 percent in April

Since the digging for cryptocurrencies took off in 2016 and 2017, the availability of graphics cards has been deficient for periods. In addition, a strong gaming market contributed to increased demand for graphics cards, where these factors together made 2017 the best sales year since 2012.

Now the industry magazine Digitimes reports that an end to high graphics card prices and poor access may be within reach. This after sources in the newspaper noted that distributors and cryptocurrencies drastically reduced orders for graphics circuits.

As a result, Taiwanese manufacturers such as MSI, Gigabyte and TUL (Powercolor) are expected to see reduced deliveries of up to 40 percent for April compared to the previous month. The reason is said to be that many major players in the crypto industry are waiting with purchases before the launch of hardware tailored for the purpose, which is expected to take place during the third quarter of the year.

All three companies exceeded financial expectations in 2017 and graphics card sales have so far been high. Instead, it is stated that sales margins will be halved as a result of upcoming campaigns and sale prices during May and June, where manufacturers hope that this will stimulate demand.
