How to enable or disable any service in Windows 11

There are many cases where many users report one or another problem on their system. Some are basic and transparent, but few of the problems can be solved by restarting / disabling the service. What does a service mean? The service is nothing more than a programming interface that runs every time the Windows operating system loads. There are many services on your system and many services are enabled or disabled depending on the criteria. You can enable any service with an option to run automatically when Windows starts or with delayed or triggered startup and also any service can be disabled manually. If you have a problem, such as the printer not working, for example, you may need to restart a service called spooler on your system. So in this post, we are working out the method to enable or disable a service in Windows 11.

How to enable a service in Windows 11 using the Services application

NOTE: – Make sure to log into your system as administrator.

Step 1: open the Services application pressing Windows key on your keyboard and typing services.

Step 2: select the Services application of search results as shown in the image below.

Step 3: To open the properties window, double click on any service you want to enable.

Step 4: Then click Start type option and select Automatic The Automatic (Delayed start) from the drop-down list as shown in the following screenshot.

Step 5: click Start and then click Request Y OK button.

NOTE: – If the service is already running, just select the Start type option and click directly Request Y OK button.

Step 6: Now, close the Services application window.

Step 7: The next time you start Windows, this service will run at startup.

This is how you can enable any service using the Services application on any Windows 11 system.

How to disable a service in Windows 11 using the Services application

Step 1: Press Windows + R keys together on your keyboard to open To run dialog box.

Step 2: Then write services.msc in the run box and press the Get into key to open the Services application.

Step 3: In the Services application, double click on any service that you want to disable.

Step 4: In the Properties window, click Stop button to stop the service.

Step 5: Then click Start type to see the drop-down list and select Disabled option from the list as shown in the following screenshot.

Step 6: Once done, click Request Y OK button to make changes.

Step 7: Now close the Services application window.

The service you have selected is immediately disabled and the next time you load windows, this service will not start.

How to enable or disable a service using the command prompt in Windows 11

Step 1: Press Windows + R keys together on your keyboard to open To run dialog box.

Step 2: Write cmd in the Run box and press the CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER keys together to open symbol of the system What management.

Step 3: click Yes in the UAC message to continue.

Step 4: Now for enable any service, type the following command and hit the Get into as it’s shown in the following.

NOTE: – You should replace the Service name by the name of the service you want to disable or enable on your system.

For the autostart type:

sc config "service name" start=auto

For the automatic start type (delayed start):

sc config "service name" start=delayed-auto

For manual start type:

sc config "service name" start=demand && sc start "service name"

Step 5: Also, type the following command and hit Get into key to deactivate any service.

sc stop "service name" && sc config "service name" start=disabled

Step 6: After enabling or disabling any services, close the command prompt window.
