How to prevent Google Chrome from opening multiple processes
Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers among users as it is easy to use, offers various functions, and yet is reliable. Chrome has a feature specifically designed to avoid the complete browser crash situation. Instead of creating a process for all tabs, plug-ins, and extensions that run in a browser, create a process for every tab, plug-in, or extension that runs in the browser. So if something happens in a tab, plugin or extension and the browser crashes, only one task data is lost. In this way, data is protected during unexpected browser crash situations.
However, it is also important to note that a large process consumes less system resources compared to several small processes. In case the resource consumption on the system is bothering you and you want to prevent Google Chrome from creating multiple processes for a single task, try the solutions listed below.
1. Open the Chrome browser.
2. In the search bar at the top, copy and paste the following command and press Get into.
chrome://settings/system
3. Move the button to delete the option Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed.
Chrome has a built-in task manager utility that shows the user the running processes and the respective resource consumption statistics. The user can check it and end the processes that are not necessary.
1. Open the Chrome browser.
2. Hold down the Shift key and later press the Esc key. Alternatively, one can even click on the 3 dots (Customize and control Google Chrome) in the upper right corner> More tools> Task manager
3. In the Task Manager window that opens, click the Task (process) that is not required and then click the End Process button in the lower right corner.
1. Right click on the Chrome icon.
2. Select Properties in the drop-down menu.
3. In the input box next to the objective, at the end add the following parameter
- process-per-site
4. Click Request.
Note: If you see a message requesting administrator rights, click Continue.
6. Finally, click it’s okay.
Note :
Review the list of extensions and add-ons in Chrome and keep the ones that are needed and used frequently. Also, be careful when opening tabs. If you find that a tab is not necessary, close it immediately.
That is all
