How to view the location, date and time of a photo

Just open your phone’s Gallery (or File Manager), locate and open the desired photo. Press the menu button and choose “Details”. All the information that will appear is the EXIF ​​data of that photo. Perhaps the most worrying is the place or location where the photo was taken.

How to remove EXIF ​​information from a photo

If you want to share a photo, it may not be recommended that that photo go with the metadata it has. To remove the “exif data” from it, directly from your Android phone, without the need for a PC, you can use various apps that exist for this task, such as Photo Metadata Remover, EXIF PRO, which are the ones with the best rating in the Play Store or as a last option EZ UnEXIF (Exif Remover).

In the case of EZ Unexif it works in three steps: choose the photo you want to remove the exif from, choose the location where the photo will be saved and finally click on convert. If you don’t know English, just click Next on each screen. By default, the application chooses the most convenient option for the user.

By default, photos without EXIF ​​are saved on your phone’s internal memory, in the Pictures> EZ UnEXIF folder.

The application does its job. The only downside is that the free version only allows you to remove the exif from one photo at a time. To remove the exif from several photos simultaneously there is EZ UnEXIF PRO, which costs 1 US dollar. You do not have to buy it because as I said there are other free alternatives for this task of multiple photos at once, such as the aforementioned Photo Metadata Remover or EXIF ​​PRO.

Note: Once the metadata is removed, you may not be able to verify on your phone that it was actually removed (for some reason my Samsung Galaxy did not offer me the “Details” option, mentioned earlier, to see the exif of the photo). However, if you transfer that photo to your PC, you will be able to verify that the exif information has been deleted.

Perhaps the most sensitive information within the exif of a photo is the location where it was taken. For security reasons, it is not advisable to share a photo that has this information, so, in addition to what is mentioned here, you should disable the geolocation of photos on your Android and follow some basic tips to protect them.
