Hungary said it would not support sanctions against Rosatom and Gazprom
UN, 24 Sep – PRIME. Hungary will never agree with the possible inclusion of Western countries in the sanctions lists of the Russian energy companies Rosatom and Gazprom, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijarto said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“I can speak with the utmost sincerity on this issue, because you are not the first to whom I will say this: we will never agree to the inclusion of Rosatom or Gazprom in the sanctions list. And we will never agree to the imposition of sanctions against any enterprise that is important to us in terms of energy supplies,” said Szijarto, who is visiting New York to attend the high-level week of the UN General Assembly.
As the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry stressed, Budapest considers the issue of energy supplies from the Russian Federation as one of those that affect the sovereignty of Hungary.
“Therefore, everyone in Europe can be sure that we will never give our consent to the imposition of sanctions that will jeopardize our investments in the nuclear field. ) will be closed. Do we want this? No. Therefore, we will give our consent if such an initiative is put forward? No, “Szijarto said.
