IAEA mission headed towards Zaporozhye NPP

SIMFEROPOL, 1 Sep — PRIME. The IAEA mission left the city of Zaporizhia towards Energodar and the Zaporozhye NPP, said Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the administration of the Zaporozhye region.

The head of the IAEA named the goal of his mission at the Zaporozhye NPP

“According to my information, I have just now been informed that a cavalcade of cars (of the IAEA mission) from a hotel in (the city of) Zaporozhye has set off for us,” he said on RT.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the mission went towards the nuclear power plant. It was also reported that a mission of 14 people arrived in the city of Zaporozhye on Wednesday at about 14.00 Moscow time.

On Monday, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that the mission is already on its way to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and will arrive on site this week. Mikhail Ulyanov, permanent representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna, reported to RIA Novosti that the mission includes about a dozen employees of the IAEA secretariat who deal with issues of safeguards and nuclear safety. They are accompanied by a large team of UN staff dealing with logistics and security issues.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that the IAEA inspection at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will begin on August 31 and will last until September 3. Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday published a video of a meeting with IAEA experts led by Grossi.
