Iconic DeLorean DMC-12 plans to revive fully electric

The iconic DeLorean DMC-12 car, known to many from the sci-fi franchise “Back to the Future”, may be reborn in the coming years, hints DMC official announcement.

News of the DeLorean revival has surfaced in the past, with DMC servicing and manufacturing old cars to exclusive orders in an effort to reconcile with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTSA) regulations for small-scale car production since 2015. The permitting decree was adopted only recently.

This came as a surprise to DMC, the company notes that it lost a number of employees who managed to change jobs or retire, as well as links with a number of suppliers. Many developments are already outdated, for example, the updated 2015 engine no longer meets a number of standards and requirements.

But the company is not going to waste opportunities at last. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles, DMC admits that the new DeLorean DMC-12 will be fully electric. Despite its old age, the car still looks futuristic and its design is certainly not worse than Tesla’s Cybertruck.
