In Europe, decided to save electricity through trains
MOSCOW, September 5 – PRIME. The French government has instructed the National Railway Company (SNCF) to explore ways to reduce the number of trains running this winter as part of an energy-saving plan, writes the Parisien newspaper.
SNCF confirmed to the publication that various scenarios for reducing the number of trains are currently being developed, but emphasized that the transport plan was drawn up taking into account the needs of the population.
A Parisien source at SNCF commented on the situation as follows: “Such a request from the state is quite logical, <…> but I don’t see how, politically and socially, one can demand the implementation of a transport plan that is already cut enough to have a real impact on electricity consumption, without other drastic measures.
SNCF believes that the government should oblige businesses to transfer workers to a remote work mode, otherwise passengers will remain on the platform or be squeezed into overcrowded cars.
