MOSCOW, 6 Sep — PRIME. Ukraine lacks 6.7 billion cubic meters of gas to reach the volume planned for the winter, Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Kucherenko said.
Energodar was left without electricity due to shelling by Ukrainian troops
Kucherenko said that he took part in a meeting of the headquarters of the government of Ukraine in preparation for the new heating season.
“Gas in storage facilities – 13.34 billion cubic meters. Coal in warehouses – 1.9 million tons. Planned targets for gas – 19 billion cubic meters – nothing at all,” the deputy noted on social networks.
According to him, the figure was initially a “soap bubble”, and colleagues’ estimates of 15.5 billion cubic meters of gas by November 1 were “fantasies”. The MP stressed that the maximum amount that could be accumulated is 14.5 billion.
Kucherenko also pointed out that the import of gas before the end of the year is impossible due to “cosmic” fuel prices. The deputy assesses the situation with coal reserves more optimistically: the planned 2.6 million tons, in his opinion, is a realistic estimate.
He added, commenting on the possibility of Ukraine’s export of electricity to the European Union, that if the ZNPP is disconnected from Ukrainian networks, the surplus of electricity generated will disappear, and instead the country will face an energy shortage.
