MOSCOW, 8 Sep — PRIME. The idea of the G7 countries to impose price limits on Russian oil will only work if Moscow agrees to these conditions, which is hardly possible. This is the opinion of Indonesian Ambassador to Russia Jose Tavares.

“We heard about the idea of introducing a price cap. The price cap is for buyers. I don’t know if Russia will accept such a price cap proposal, although I’m not sure about it… But the price cap can only work if the supplier agrees with the price cap , otherwise it does not work,” the diplomat said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the WEF.
He added that Indonesia, in case of interest in Russian energy resources, would directly turn to Russia.
Tavares also stressed that the issue of the oil price ceiling is not included in the agenda of the G20 summit.
Indonesia has a rolling G20 Presidency in 2022. All G20 events, including the leadership summit, are being held this year on the Indonesian island of Bali.
According to him, there is a possibility of G7 representatives addressing the summit participants separately.
In addition, the diplomat stressed Indonesia’s readiness to ensure the security of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit.
