Intel Arc, top-of-the-range desktop video card: boost clock up to 2250 MHz? A clue pops up

Intel not yet ready to unveil its range of desktop video cards, even if two days ago he tried to raise the hype with the teaser of the future top of the range in limited edition. In that video, in addition to the features of the video card, nothing special is seen, but perhaps some more details can be found in another video released by the company, that of the Arc Control panel also announced in the past few hours.

In the footage, as discovered by 3DCenter, some technical information about the GPU monitored by Arc Control appears for fractions of a second (twice). In particular it is seen in the entry GPU Power a maximum value of 175W and a graphics chip clock frequency of 2200-2250 MHzwhich could represent the boost clock of the future top of the desktop range (which could be called Arc A780).

in particular the Power GPU to suggest a desktop video card, even if limiting itself to that parameter it cannot be completely ruled out that it is the flagship Arc A770M mobile GPU. The latter, in fact, although accompanied by a maximum TDP of 150W could perhaps go further thanks to Dynamic Power Share, a technology similar to NVIDIA Dynamic Boost and AMD SmartShift that dynamically allocates additional power budget to the GPU if the CPU is underused.

At the moment it is not clear if GPU Power tracks the request for the GPU alone or even for the combined video memory, but in any case the value of 175W goes well with an old rumor about Intel GPUs. To suggest that it is a desktop GPU the clock of the VRAM, indicated in 1093 MHz, or 17.5 Gbps: A 16 Gbps memory setting is rumored for A770M.

Either way, Intel will unveil desktop GPUs in the second quarter. According to rumors, the top of the range should have similar performance to the GeForce RTX 3070/3070 Ti, which makes it one of the best video cards around, at least in the period before the release of the GeForce RTX 4000 and Radeon RX 7000 families. NVIDIA and AMD, both expected later in the year.
