Intel DG1 on rendered images – metal casing and blue light

2020 will see the premiere of Intel’s new generation of graphics cards in the Xe series, which will partly take place in the Tiger Lake processors in the form of integrated Gen12 graphics, and partly as dedicated models. Intel demonstrated Xe during the company’s presentation at CES 2020, then in the form of the developer card DG1.

Intel DG1 is a reference implementation that is sent out to software developers, who thus get the chance to adapt their systems to Intel’s new architecture. With DG1 as a base, Intel informs both developers and partners about the upcoming graphics architecture, and images from such a presentation are leaked in an article from Guru3D which subsequently taken down now is back.

In addition to information intended for Intel’s partners, the images also show renderings of what the DG1 graphics card looks like. It is about compact hardware that is connected to the system via PCI Express x16, and since no other connections are visible, it seems that the card’s power consumption falls within the 75 W that the connection allows.

Intel DG1 is covered by a metal housing and a single axial fan, which occupies two slots. Other details that can be seen in the pictures are a total of four picture connections, of which three are of the type Displayport and one of the type HDMI.

Intel has not yet been revealed when the first dedicated graphics cards in the Xe series will reach the market, but Twitter posts from the company’s graphics manager Raja Koduri have previously indicated that a launch for the summer of 2020 is on the horizon.

Are you tagged on a graphics card from Intel in the entry-level class, or are you waiting for future models when the technology has matured more?
