Intel: record turnover in 2019 despite the problems encountered

Intel has released financial results for the fourth quarter of 2019, effectively ending a year with various problems which however did not prevent the Santa Clara company from recording record turnover, growing not only on a quarterly basis (Q3 2019) but above all compared to an already solid 2018.

For Q4 2019 Intel has registered a revenue of $ 20.2 billion, an increase of approximately 5.3% on the previous quarter and up to 8% on an annual basis; considering the entire 2019 fiscal year, Intel has made $ 72 billion in revenuewhich is an increase of 2% on an annual basis. In this context, operating profit stood at $ 6.8 billion, while net profit rose to $ 6.9 billion, up 33% on the same period of 2018. Also good are the results of the shares that show profits up 40%, rising from $ 1.18 in Q4 2018 to $ 1.58 in Q4 2019.

The Intel Computing Group division was the driving force behind Intel's turnover, which alone contributed sales of approximately $ 10 billion, a result that grew by only 2% on an annual basis but which at the moment does not seem to be affected too much by chip shortage issues or to renewed competition from AMD (at least for the moment).

The results of the Data Center Group division which with 7.2 billion in turnover is up 19% on an annual basis and 12% on a quarterly basis. The rest of the revenue is represented by the data-centric market divisions, including the Internet of Thing, Mobileye and Non-Volatile Memory Solutions, the only item the latter in sharp decline compared to 2018 (-17%).

For 2020 Intel expects growth similar to that of the past year; the turnover is estimated at 73.5 billion dollars, while for the first quarter in progress it instead expects revenues of 19 billion dollars.
