Japan considers the transfer of ZNPP under the control of Russia “impermissible”

TOKYO, 7 Oct – PRIME. Japan condemns the transfer of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to Russian control, Deputy General Secretary Seiji Kihara said at a press conference in Tokyo on Friday.

Rosatom began integration of the Zaporizhzhya NPP into the Russian energy system
“The fact that Russia occupied the (Zaporozhye) nuclear power plant and other actions of Russia are inadmissible. We condemn them as a country that survived the accident at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. We demand that Russia stop (these actions) as soon as possible,” he said.
On October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to transfer the Zaporizhzhya NPP under the control of Russia and signed a decree that the said NPP would become the property of the Russian Federation. Oleg Romanenko, the former chief engineer of the Balakovo NPP, headed the ZNPP operation company. All employees of Zaporizhzhya NPP will soon be employed by the new Russian company JSC “Operating Organization of Zaporizhzhya NPP”, they will keep their salaries and social guarantees.
