MOSCOW, 12 Oct — PRIME. Kazakhstan is conducting preliminary negotiations with Gazprom on increasing gas purchases, the prospective volume may reach up to 10 billion cubic meters, the country’s energy minister Bolat Akchulakov told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week.
“Preliminary,” Akchulakov replied to a question about whether Kazakhstan is negotiating with Gazprom to increase gas supplies to the country.
He explained that specific volumes will depend on the speed and breadth of the implementation of Kazakhstan’s gasification plans.
“Now we are counting for now. From 4 billion cubic meters. It is possible now, but generally closer to 2024-2025. The maximum can be 10 billion in the future. But we are now looking at plans,” the minister concluded, answering a question about possible volumes and terms supplies under discussion.
Russian Energy Week takes place in Moscow from 12 to 14 October. RIA Novosti acts as an information partner of the forum.
