LINE Obtains FSA Cryptocurrency Exchange Management License

The operator of the largest in Japan messenger LINE received a license from the Financial Services Agency (FSA) to manage the cryptocurrency exchange.

The regulator of Japan granted the blockchain division of LINE Corporation LVC a license that will allow the company to offer cryptocurrency trading services to more than 80 million users.

This summer, for the first time, it became known that LINE is awaiting a license for its BitMax platform. The platform will become the second cryptocurrency exchange managed by LINE – in July 2018, the company launched the Bitbox exchange in Singapore.

According to the FSA announcement, BitMax received a license to trade five cryptocurrencies: BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC and XRP. The site has become one of twenty licensed cryptocurrency exchanges in the country.

Recall that recently the e-commerce giant Rakuten officially launched its cryptocurrency exchange Rakuten Wallet, and at the beginning of the year, the Coincheck exchange received a FSA license.
