Lukoil to start drilling at a field in the Caspian by the end of the year

MOSCOW, 21 Sep — PRIME. Lukoil plans to start drilling at the Greifer field in the Caspian Sea at the end of 2022, Gleb Ovsyannikov, the company’s vice president for external communications, said.

“Before the end of the year, production drilling will begin at the Greifer field in the Caspian. We keep the development plans for this province. The next will be the Kuvykin field,” he said during the TNF industrial and energy forum.

In March, it was reported that drilling on this project would begin in November-December this year. Thus, the plans of the company are preserved.

The Greifer field is the third project, along with the Korchagin and Filanovsky fields, which the company is implementing in the Caspian Sea. The field was discovered in 2001 and is located 160 kilometers from the port of Astrakhan. The expected production shelf is 1.2 million tons per year.
