Media: a major German energy concern again sharply increased gas prices

BERLIN, 11 Oct – PRIME. One of the largest energy concerns in Germany, EnBW AG, is once again raising prices sharply for household consumers – by 38 percent at once, according to the German magazine Spiegel.

The company explains this step by a five to ten times increase in purchase prices, the publication specifies. The increase is expected to take place by December 1st.

A few months ago, the company already carried out a large-scale price increase. Then the cost of energy supply increased by 35 percent.

At the same time, it is noted that even after the second increase in EnBW prices, gas prices are still below the market average. A household with an annual consumption of 20 thousand kilowatt-hours will have to pay an additional 64 euros gross per month, the newspaper writes.

At the same time, EnBW expressed its readiness to consider proposals to mitigate price increases from the federal expert commission.

“Once proposals to mitigate energy price hikes from an expert panel set up by the federal government are concretely formulated and enshrined in law, EnBW will take them into account when pricing,” the company told the magazine.
