MOSCOW, 30 Sep — PRIME. Dutch energy companies have decided to postpone price hikes planned from 1 October due to pressure from the Consumer and Markets Authority (ACM), DutchNews reports.
According to the publication, Essent and its subsidiary Energiedirect will raise prices no earlier than November 7th. Other major companies – Vattenfall and Eneco – have promised to delay price increases until 15 October.
The Dutch regulator has threatened to fine electricity providers for violating the law in the event of a price increase, as they are required to notify customers of rate changes 30 days in advance. Energy companies have said that the 30-day period was more of an indicative rather than a legally binding notice period.
The Consumer and Markets Authority also urged consumers to complain directly about violations by utilities.
