Media: every fourth Briton wants to survive the winter without heating

MOSCOW, 29 Aug – PRIME. Almost one in four people in the UK will give up heating this winter due to record energy price increases, the Independent newspaper writes, citing a study by the consulting company Savanta ComRes.

The study was conducted prior to the announcement by British energy regulator Ofgem of an increase in the price cap for energy bills on Friday 26 August. The results of the research were obtained on the basis of a survey of more than two thousand Britons.

The study showed that 23% of people in the UK are not going to turn on the heating this winter, among Britons with children under 18 the figure has risen to 27%.

Another 69% of the country’s residents plan to use less energy for heating, while 11% reported the need to take out a loan to pay for electricity. Among Brits who have children under 18, 17% plan to take out a loan, the newspaper reports.
