Media: Friends dissuaded Musk from buying Twitter

WASHINGTON, Sep 16 – PRIME Friends and relatives of the American billionaire, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, discouraged him from buying the social network Twitter, calling it a “huge problem,” Axios reports, citing sources close to the businessman.

“Several friends of Elon Musk have privately tried to talk him out of acquiring Twitter. They were worried that he underestimated the headache associated with Twitter, ”the publication says.

According to LinkedIn co-founder Ryde Hoffman, also close to Musk, buying Twitter would be another problem in the series that he already has to solve.

“My reaction, like most people, is that this is another huge problem. He already has a lot of them, ”said Hoffman in an interview with the publication.

At the same time, the interlocutors of the publication supported Musk’s sincere intentions regarding Twitter, related to the removal of restrictions on the publication of content and the improvement of the quality of the social network, “in need of innovation.”

On Tuesday, Twitter shareholders approved the sale of the company to Musk. Previously, Musk offered $44 billion for Twitter, but then demanded to check the company’s data that the number of fake accounts used, among other things, to send spam, does not exceed 5%. According to him, the social network underestimated the number of such accounts and did not provide sufficient information upon request. Also, the businessman was dissatisfied with the personnel policy of the company. Later, on July 8, Musk notified Twitter that he was refusing to buy it. The social network filed a lawsuit against the businessman in the Delaware Court of Chancery.
