Media: the G7 confirmed its intention to introduce a “price ceiling” on Russian oil

MOSCOW, Sep 2 — PRIME. The finance ministers of the G7 member countries confirmed their intention to impose a price limit on Russian oil, Western media reported.

Earlier, Reuters released a news item that talked about the plans of the G7 to limit the cost of Russian pipeline gas. However, the agency later corrected the publication, specifying that it was not about gas, but about oil.

“G7 finance ministers confirm plans to impose a ceiling on the price of Russian oil (not gas),” the amended report says.

The G7 finance ministers’ meeting took place on Friday 2 September. During the meeting, the representatives of the G7 unanimously approved the limitation of the cost of Russian oil.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that it was time to set a price limit for Russian pipeline gas entering Europe. According to her, EU energy ministers will discuss this issue during an extraordinary meeting on 9 September.
