MIUI Global ROM 12.5 will be officially unveiled on February 8

Xiaomi has announced the date of the official presentation of the MIUI 12.5 proprietary software in the international arena. The Chinese version of the firmware, along with the flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 11, debuted on December 28, 2020. Now in the form of a beta version, it is available for about three dozen models. But we are talking about closed testing.

MIUI 12.5 is positioned as a full-fledged version of the shell, although many still consider it to be an intermediate step between MIUI 12 and MIUI 13. At the same time, its release may mean that the company has decided to postpone the announcement of the thirteenth revision of the proprietary software. The main innovation of the firmware was the increase in system speed and a 25% reduction in power consumption.

During the announcement of MIUI 12.5, the Chinese company announced that a fresh version of the shell will be available for all Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones that have received or will receive MIUI 12. Most likely the manufacturer is being a little disingenuous here, and budget models like Redmi 6 or Redmi Note 5, announced in the first half of 2018, will remain without updating.

In any case, the list of smartphones for which MIUI 12.5 Global will be available will become known in a few weeks. Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the global version of the firmware will be presented on February 8, 2021, i.e. days before going on holiday for the Chinese New Year.
