Mobile Chrome will report password theft

Recently, the developers have released an updated version of the Google Chrome browser for Android and iOS. Version 86 includes improved protection of user passwords stored in the system, as well as other useful features that provide a high level of security.

In Chrome 86, the company added a user account breach alert tool. The innovation works on the basis of the Google security check system, which will identify compromised data. If during the check the system confirms the fact of the leak, the browser will automatically prompt the user to change the password for the account.

Also, Chrome for Android will soon receive an improved Safe Browsing feature that protects users from malware, phishing sites and other online threats. In this case, the browser will warn about the transfer of user data when using the insecure HTTP protocol on sites with HTTPS support. This is true in cases where the developers of the Internet resource use the so-called “mixed content”, which implies the presence of unsafe HTTP links and forms of sending data on secure HTTPS pages.

In turn, iPhone and iPad owners will be able to set Chrome as their default browser. Also, in the updated version of the browser for iOS, there will be a function to automatically fill in passwords using Touch ID, PIN-code or Face ID.

At the moment, the new Chrome is not available to all users. It will take some time for the developers to test the update on various mobile devices.
