Arkane is "actively investigating" the stuttering issues in Deathloop.

After Deathloop received a lot of negative reviews on Steam following performance issues on its PC version, particularly stuttering, Arkane went out to try and calm users down, promising to be “actively investigating” problems in the game.

These sayings come from Andre Carlos, Bethesda community manager, who commented on Reddit that are aware of reports from PC users experiencing Deathloop stuttering issues, and that they are investigating the problem as top priority and what they will give more information as soon as possible.

Apparently, it does not matter what hardware or configuration we use: The stutter is present even if we lower the resolution and graphics. Many believe it is Denuvo’s fault, and in fact people mention their anger at the incorporation of DRM in practically all the negative reviews of the title.

In the past we saw a similar case with another Arkane game: Dishonored 2. This game suffered a lot of performance issues and a myriad of bugs after its release, and as with Deathloop today, PC users came out to express their anger over such problems. Some of these problems were corrected with patches and updates, although even so the game is still poorly optimized even today. It is surprising that after that bad episode, they have problems of the same style again.

Since both Deathloop like Dishonored 2 use the Void Engine graphics engine, a modified version of the id Tech 6 engine, perhaps this engine is to blame for all these problems. Recall that prior to Deathloop, Arkane launched Prey, which uses CryEngine, and did not suffer the episodes they had with Dishonored 2, so the common point between their two games with problems is the graphics engine, which is possibly the cause and not the DRM.

It remains to be seen what solution Bethesda and Arkane offer us and if they explain the reason for the performance problems. We will also see if any group manages to remove Denuvo and we can check if the problems are thanks to the anti-piracy system or not.

Have you already tried Deathloop on PC? Have you run into any of these problems?
