Moldova will buy and store gas in Ukraine

MOSCOW, 30 Sep — PRIME. The Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova decided to purchase 15 million Ukrainian gas and store it in warehouses in Ukraine, the press service of the country’s government said.

Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that representatives of Gazprom did not confirm that they would continue gas supplies to the republic in October, since Moldovagaz had not paid the advance payment.

“Enterprise Energocom will purchase in two batches and will store 15 million cubic meters of natural gas in warehouses in Ukraine. This decision was made at a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CES) chaired by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa,” the release says.

The government explained. that natural gas reserves will be purchased and supplied on the basis of an agreement between Energocom and Moldovagaz. For the first tranche in the amount of ten million cubic meters, the purchase price will be $ 1,882.78 per 1,000 cubic meters and will be confirmed by an acceptance certificate between the state enterprise “Moldovagaz” and PJSC “Gazprom”, to which will be added the cost of delivery through the transport system of LLC “Moldovatransgaz” .

The second tranche of natural gas purchases in the amount of five million cubic meters will be carried out in October at a preliminary price of $1,058.11 per 1,000 cubic meters, calculated as of September 23, 2022. The final cost of gas will be recalculated after the establishment of the import price for natural gas for “Moldovagaz” in October this year.
