BRUSSELS, September 30 — PRIME. EU energy ministers will agree on new energy measures on Friday, said Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson. She stated this before the meeting.

“I expect that today we will have a political agreement, and after that we will be able to quickly implement these measures,” she said.
Such measures are the reduction of demand for electricity in the EU, the introduction of a profit limit for companies that generate electricity from cheap sources, as well as a “solidarity contribution” from profits made in the fossil fuel sector.
The EC proposed these measures for consideration by the EU countries in mid-September. As a source in the EU told reporters on Thursday, the countries of the union are considering some amendments to the original proposals of the EC, but the main parameters of the project remain.
