BAKU, 11 Oct – PRIME. Chisinau agrees with Baku on the purchase of gas in the amount of 300 million cubic meters, Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa said on Tuesday during a meeting with representatives of Azerbaijani business circles.

Moldova reduced gas consumption by almost 40 percent in September
“Our country is looking for a short-term and long-term solution to the gas and energy crises. Our two-month need is 300 million cubic meters. No country wants to depend on one supplier. Therefore, we are looking for alternative suppliers. This issue was also discussed in Azerbaijan. We want to buy from Azerbaijani gas in the amount of 300 million cubic meters,” she said.
Moldova is experiencing an energy crisis due to rising energy prices. The authorities intend to reduce gas consumption in winter by at least 15%, and have also developed and submitted for discussion a plan that includes turning off street lighting, lowering the central heating temperature, transferring schoolchildren and students to distance learning. Starting from August 1, Moldovagaz began disconnecting consumers who did not pay for natural gas supply services on time.
