Montreal police search for suspected Bitcoin thief

European accused of stealing several million dollars in cryptocurrencies at Montreal is actively wanted by authorities after cutting off his electronic bracelet and fled.

Vukasin Popovic, and his 2 accomplices, were arrested on February 12, 2020 and are accused of having stolen several million dollars in cryptocurrencies to two Americans during a transaction in a hotel located in Montreal.

According to the daily LaPresse, Popovic got rid of his electronic bracelet and fled this weekend. Police are now concerned that the 34-year-old is leaving the country.

Popovic had obtained a placement under electronic monitoring last month. His trial had been postponed due to the progression of the coronavirus in Canada.
