MSI and Corsair in collaboration on water-cooled graphics card

Component maker MSI recently launched the Geforce GTX 980 Ti Lightning in the company’s exclusive OC series. Lightning usually marks the company best of the best in graphics cards, but may in the not too distant future be topped by an even more exclusive variant.

On MSI’s official Facebook page, a picture is published that reveals that another model in the OC series is planned, but it will be something out of the ordinary. The graphics card is made in collaboration with Corsair and the illustration clearly indicates that it is a water-cooled story.

Corsair has had a collaboration for several years and is a partner in Coolit, which, like Danish Asetek, specializes in closed water cooling solutions. The company has also been making water cooling mounts for graphics cards for some time, which is why it is highly likely that Corsair will be responsible for the cooling solution, while MSI will be responsible for the circuit board.

Most likely it is a Geforce GTX 980 Ti together with the closed water cooler Hydro H55 and the bracket HG10, which MSI showed earlier this summer and which is current in Corsair’s latest living room chassis Bulldog. It is also likely that it is the same circuit board that forms the basis for MSI’s worsting model GTX 980 Ti Lightning.

According to the picture, the new graphics card will arrive “soon” and could thus make its entrance before the Corsair Bulldog, which is scheduled for launch at the end of the year.
