MSI announces Geforce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 Sea Hawk EK X

In early May, Nvidia introduced the Geforce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, which are based on the new Pascal architecture. Since then, a steady stream of graphics cards from partner manufacturers has seen the light of day and now MSI is launching two more variants, which go under the series name Seahawk EK X.

MSI Geforce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 Sea Hawk EK X come with pre-installed water blocks from EK Water Blocks. The block is based on a design where the water is divided into two flows, something MSI believes should deliver good cooling even for systems with less powerful water pumps.

Like the air-cooled counterparts Gaming X and Gaming Z, the Seahawk EK X has a customized circuit board, where the power supply has been expanded from an 8-pin connector to an extra 6-pin PCI Express. Furthermore, the duo measures in at 278 x 165 x 20 millimeters.

For specifications, the MSI Geforce GTX 1080 Seahawk EK X has a Turbo Boost frequency of 1,733 MHz, 1,822 MHz and 1,847 MHz in the modes Silent Mode, Gaming Mode respective OC Mode. For the GTX 1070 variant, 1,683 MHz, 1,771 MHz and 1,797 MHz apply in each mode. The graphics card’s 8 GB GDDR5X and GDDR5 memory also gets a slight overclocking of 100 MHz in OC Mode.

MSI has not yet announced a price or sales start for both models.
